Research
Research in our lab broadly focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms that regulate lipid signalling complexes. We have a particular focus on enzymes that mediate the phosphorylation and dephosphorylation of lipid phosphoinositides. These proteins play essential roles in regulating almost every aspect of a cells life and death. Misregulation of these enzymes occurs frequently in human disease, and defining the molecular basis for these processes will be essential to the development of novel therapeutics.

We approach the study of these complicated systems using a cutting edge synergy of biophysical methods. The primary tools of our lab are structural mass spectrometry and X-ray crystallography. These techniques are combined with other biophysical and biochemical approaches, including SPR, ITC, and functional assays. We actively use our biophysical studies to establish collaborations with chemists and biologists who can use our structural and functional data to design novel chemical inhibitors, as well as design mutations for screening in biological models of disease.
